Each tablet contains Alprazolam U.S.P 0.5mg. The product complies with U.S.P.
It is used to treat anxiety states, with or without associated symptoms of depression. The effectiveness of this medicine for long-term use exceeding six months has not been established.
For anxiety, most patients require an initial dose of 0.25 to 0.5mg three times daily, which may be increased to 4mg daily in divided doses. For elderly or debilitated patients, an initial dose of 0.5 to 0.7mg daily.
The divided dose may be increased gradually according to individual requirements depending upon tolerability.
This medicine is not recommended for patients who are primarily diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Alp is well tolerated. Side effects such as drowsiness, coordination disturbances, and blurred vision are occasional. In rare cases, like other benzodiazepines, it may cause stimulation, concentration difficulties, confusion, and hallucinations.
