Kemadrin
Kemadrin (Procyclidine HCL) belongs to the anticholinergics class of mediation. Procyclidine is helpful in curing Parkinson’s disease of any category.
Composition:
Kemadrin is available in form of tablets. A standard bottle has 100 tablets in it. Each tablet contains 5mg of Procyclidine HCL.
Dosage:
The dose is prescribed by the doctor or physician and patient must follow that to prevent any adverse effect.
Seek the doctor for days, time, and proper instructions to take the tablets.
Indications:
The tablets are used in the treatment of all types of Parkinson’s such as idiopathic (paralysis agitans), postencephalitic and arteriosclerotic ailments.
Further, it aids in the alleviation of rigidity, tremor, akinesia, speech and writing difficulty, gait problems, sialorrhoea, drooling, sweating, and controls the extrapyramidal symptoms induced by neuroleptic drugs.
Contraindications:
Kemadrin is contraindicated in patients having hypersensitivity. Also, patients with untreated urinary retention closed-angle glaucoma and gastrointestinal obstruction.
Other adverse effects may include blurred vision, dry mouth, agitation, anxiety, disorientation, dizziness, vomiting, nausea, and impaired cognition.
Precautions:
The benefits or risk ratio should be assessed when prescribing procyclidine in patients with existing angle glaucoma.
Especially, elderly patients with high doses of anticholinergics should consult the doctor before taking this medicine.
